Enhanced Composite Bond Strength Combined with Easy Removal

Henkel’s Hysol® EA 9895™ Wet Peel Ply Qualifies at Airbus and Goodrich, in Qualification at Boeing

The aerospace group of Henkel recently announced that Hysol® EA 9895™ composite bonding film received qualifications for Airbus and Goodrich, and is in qualification at Boeing.

The aerospace group of Henkel recently announced that Hysol® EA 9895™ composite bonding film received qualifications for Airbus and Goodrich, and is in qualification at Boeing. Hysol® EA 9895™ WPP (Wet Peel Ply) was developed to increase composite substrate bond durability and eliminate contamination of composite surfaces from dry peel ply fragments. In addition, Henkel launched the www.hysolpeelply.com website to provide easy access to composite designers.

Hysol ® EA 9895™ is a pre-impregnated polyester peel ply that cures at 350˚ F. Additional features, include:

  • Easy removal –  The fabric strips easily in one piece, which reduces shop time for removal.
  • No contamination since the wet peel ply resin component creates a clean fracture line against the composite surface leaving no residual fibers.
  • Good bonding surface as demonstrated by G1C and surface analysis testing.

Hysol® EA 9895™ is qualified to Airbus IPS 12-01-002 and Goodrich RIMS 1036 and is undergoing final qualification to Boeing’s BMS 8-403.

Hysol® EA 9895™ is designed to fracture cleanly leaving a clean strong bonding surface as displayed in the above image.

“Henkel is committed to developing innovative solutions for our customers, such as Hysol® EA 9895™,” said Raymond Wong, vice president of technology, Henkel. “We are proud to offer products to meet the challenges of composite bonding for aerospace applications.”
